Plague of Fathers

A son presents with sectoral or central heterochromia (differing eye colors within the same iris, indicating an increase in toxins within the body) as a result of the father-son illness prevalent in a strange area of SciFi or future. The father must trade the son for another son to keep him alive, as the boy is developing auto-immune toxins in reaction to hormones/traces released by his father. It happens in a closed society where the community is learning to develop a care system between parents and children where all adults are parents and all children belong to all. The father cannot leave, for he must provide for his home and the others = wife and children.
